Inflatable and Float Entries Are FREE!

Inflatables

Inflatables which are 7' or taller are highly desirable as a parade unit. The balloon must be handled by persons 18 years of age or older who are physically capable of maneuvering the inflatable around corners and below power lines and cables.

Tips for Floats

A float is defined as any completely decorated or disguised unit towed, powered, or pulled. Floats should not be more than 45’ long x 13’ 6” high from street level to ensure the entry fits under streetlights and able to turn corners safely. Any unit over 45’ in length should be ”broken” with a pivot point to accommodate turning corners. In certain cases, height may exceed the 13’ 6” dimension if provisions have been made to mechanically contract the unit to go under trees and streetlights. All exposed parts and wheels should be completely covered. Remember television, video recorders and viewers will see your entry from all angles, including from above. Skirting material should reach to within two inches of the ground. Hard cover skirting should reach no closer than eight inches to the ground.

All floats and units with generators must have two (2) fire extinguishers with 2011 inspection tags mounted in plain view on each float and available to the driver and/or entertainers. All riders on the float must be instructed on proper use of fire extinguishers. All drivers and riders must be able to evacuate the float quickly if required.
Usually, the float frame is attached to the car or truck. This vehicle should be completely disguised. All tow vehicles should be completely disguised. Children should wonder how the float is moving. Each float must be towed by a licensed vehicle (if not self or animal propelled); built on a licensed vehicle (if self-propelled); or be transported on a licensed trailer by a licensed vehicle. Each float may carry as many people as safety allows. Walkers and float riders should be used only when they serve a useful function to the overall theme of the float and should be costumed appropriately to fit that theme.
