THE ARVADA HARVEST FESTIVAL HOLDS NO LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES AND/OR INJURIES
We strive to provide a parade that will build lasting memories for families and entries alike. Regrettably, we have had to add some rules in order to achieve our goal.
1. Political messages are not allowed in or on any entry unless they are registered and have paid the $225 fee per issue, candidate, topic, etc. Controversial political entries have lead to escalating violence in Colorado and even cancellation of parades and events.
2. Do not park cars or other vehicles that are not part of your unit(s) in the staging area.
3. All vehicle drivers must be an adult, with a legal driver’s license, complying with any state requirements for that type of vehicle. Drivers of motor vehicles must remain with the vehicle at all times.
4. Once your unit is in forward motion, there will be no getting onto or off of the vehicles, and nothing should be done that would encourage spectators to approach the vehicles.
5. Any float riders who are not in a seated position should be provided with a handhold or other support.
6. Units must maintain a forward motion, so as not to hinder the flow of the parade.
7. No backing up allowed.
8. As a safety precaution, no candy or other objects shall be thrown from the parade unit. If you are handing anything out, it is suggested that you will need four people ( age 11 and older ) on each side of your entry to walk alongside the curb and hand the items out within 12" of the curb. Parade walkers must be able to keep up with their unit. It is suggested that you will need at least 5,000 units to disperse if you want to cover the entire parade route with tens of thousands in attendance.
9. Bicyclists, motorcyclists, skateboarders, inline skaters, and those on scooters must wear helmets.
10. Pets must be under control, on a fixed-length leash ( no longer than 6' ) and handled by someone strong enough to manage them. The animals must be accustomed to being in crowds.
11. 0nly one rider per horse.
12. Rider must own the horse.
13. Any acts that may surprise spectators ( i.e., explosions ) must be pre-approved by the parade committee.
14. Sound-checks prior to the parade are limited to five minutes.
15. Volume must be adjustable, and sound amplifying systems should not be played so loudly as to interfere with other units. (Sound should not be audible more than thirty feet.)
16. 15-second performances may be done only when natural stops occur along the parade route.
17. Dignitaries and politicians are expected to supply their own convertible vehicles.
18. Vendors must pre-register. No sales may occur along the parade route without express written approval of the parade committee. (A Special Event City Sales Tax license, as well as a Jefferson County Health permit will be required.)
19. Inflatable balloons, 10' or larger, must be handled by persons 18 years of age or older and physically capable.
20. No confetti, streamers or glitter are allowed as the street sweepers are unable to handle these materials.
21. To gain maximum exposure, stay 25' from the entry in front of you.
22. No doubling up of entries into one unit.
23. No alcohol, illegal substances, smoking or inebriation is allowed in the pre-parade assembly area or on the parade route.
24. Parade units violating any of these rules, at the discretion of the festival executive committee, parade chair or event coordinator, will not be judged and may be removed from the parade. This disqualification may also result in the suspension of future participation.
25. We reserve the right to revise the placement of all entries.
26. The parade committee reserves the right to grant written approval for any exceptions.
It is our goal to make the Arvada Harvest Festival Parade the best community parade between LA and Chicago! If you have any suggestions as to how we can improve your parade experience, please feel free to e-mail or call us.
